This meal has been a favorite for many years. It is basically beef tips browned and slowly cooked until tender. We usually serve this with homemade mashed potatoes and corn.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 tablespoon butter, or to taste
1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
2 ½ cups milk
salt and ground black pepper to taste
4 potatoes, peeled and cubed, or more to taste
¼ cup butter, or to taste
¼ cup milk, or to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 (15.25 ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained

Steps:

  • Cook in a large skillet over medium heat until browned on all sides, about 20 minutes. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, 2 1/2 cups milk, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened to gravy consistency, at least 1 hour.
  • Place potatoes into a large pot and cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain. Add 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup milk, salt, and pepper; beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Heat corn in a saucepan over medium heat until tender, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour beef and gravy mixture over mashed potatoes and place corn on the side to serve.

So Easy! Enjoy these beef tips at the end of a long day while they cook in your crock pot. Great over rice, noodles or potatoes. The gravy is made there for you.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 lbs beef sirloin, cut in pieces
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 (10 ounce) cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sour cream
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Brown beef tips in vegetable oil and place in crock pot. In same saucepan, sautee onions and place on top of beef tips.
  • Add mushroom soup, worcestershire sauce and water to same saucepan. Heat and stir to mix. Add to crock pot.
  • Turn crock pot to high for 1 hour and turn to low for 4 to 5 hours. Add sour cream during last 15 minutes and stir.
  • Note: Cream of mushroom soup will add some salty flavor. At end of cook time do a taste test and if too salty, add about 3-4 tablespoons of water which will dilute saltiness.

  • Preheat oven to 325°. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. In an ovenproof Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat; brown beef in batches. Remove from pan., Add mushrooms and onions to pan; cook and stir until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in broth, wine, brandy, tomato paste and herbs. Return beef to pan. Bring to a boil., Bake, covered, 1 hour. In a small bowl, mix flour and water until smooth; gradually stir into stew. Bake, covered, 30 minutes longer or until stew is thickened and beef is tender. Skim fat. Serve stew with mashed potatoes.
    Freeze option: Freeze cooled stew in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally and adding a little broth or water if necessary.
