Total Time 50 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 35 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 13

6 bone-in pork chops OR about 1 & 1/2 to 2 lbs. boneless pork chops
1 c. plain dried bread crumbs
1 & 1/4 tsp. salt
1 & 1/4 tsp. granulated garlic or garlic powder
3/4 tsp. onion powder
3/4 tsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/8 tsp. dried thyme
1 & 1/2 T. canola or vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine bread crumbs and all seasonings (salt, granulated garlic, onion powder, sugar, paprika, parsley, pepper, chili powder, oregano, and thyme). Mix well.
  • Slowly drizzle and whisk in canola oil until thoroughly combined.
  • Line a rimmed jelly-roll baking sheet with foil and spray foil very lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Spoon prepared Shake & Bake coating into a gallon-sized ziploc bag.
  • Season pork chops on both sides with a light sprinkling of salt and pepper.
  • Place 2 to 3 pieces uncooked seasoned pork at a time in ziploc bag with coating mix. Seal bag with air in it to allow the meat room to move around. Shake until meat is thoroughly coated.
  • Place coated pork chops on prepared baking pan, arranging pieces at least 1-inch apart.
  • Bake bone-in pork chops at 375℉ for 35-45 minutes OR bake boneless pork chops at 400℉ for 25-30 minutes, until pork is cooked through.
  • The cooking times given in this recipe are for regular-thickness pork chops, not for thick-cut or thin pork chops. Using regular-thickness pork chops is recommended when preparing this recipe.
  • See our How to Make Homemade Shake & Bake post for instructions on making and storing larger batches of coating to have on hand.

Total Time 20 minutes

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 boneless pork chops (at least 1-inch thick*)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1½ tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons paprika (sweet or smoked)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425° F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. (You can also bake pork chops in a baking dish, without parchment.)
  • Pat pork chops dry with paper towels. Rub pork chops with the olive oil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Combine the brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, dried thyme, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Stir to mix well.
  • Rub the spice mixture over all sides of the pork chops.
  • Bake pork chops in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes for 1-inch thick boneless pork chops. The pork chops are done when the internal temperature measures 145° F on an instant read thermometer. (Thinner pork chops will cook faster, bone-in pork chops will take longer to cook. See notes.) Be careful not to overcook the pork chops or they may dry out.
  • Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes and then serve.

Since my pork chops were only about a 1/2 inch thick instead of an inch thick, they were ready after baking only about 20 minutes. I recommend using a casserole dish just large enough for the pork chops so the sauce will cover the pork chops. If the pan is too large the sauce will spread out too thin and not cover the pork chops.
