A tasty, savory spin on a quick and easy fall apple treat.

Provided by PILLSBURY.COM

Total Time 1 hours 0 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 medium onion, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon butter plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count)
2 cups shredded gruyère cheese (8 oz)
1 granny smith apple, cored and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Caramelize the onions: Heat medium pan over medium-low heat. Melt 1 tablespoon butter and add sliced onions on medium-low heat. Let it cook down for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once onions develop a caramel color, remove from heat and set aside.
  • Unroll 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls onto a baking sheet. Freeze for 10 minutes to firm. When dough is chilled, remove from freezer and cut into 8 squares, separating them from each other.
  • Divide shredded gruyère cheese onto each tart, then top each with caramelized onions, followed by apple slices. Brush melted butter on top. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. With pizza cutter, score the edges of each tart.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are golden brown and cheese is melted.

Like a fall fruit basket, this golden pie with an easy refrigerated crust overflows with apples, pears, nuts, and more.

Provided by Pillsbury Kitchens

Total Time 1 hours 30 minutes

Prep Time 30 minutes

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 crust from 1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Pie Crusts (2 Count), softened as directed on box
2 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
2 cups thinly sliced peeled pears
3/4 cup fresh cranberries
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon milk
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Remove crust from pouch; unfold crust. Place on paper-lined cookie sheet. Press out fold lines.

  • In small bowl, combine 1/4 cup flour, brown sugar and butter; mix well. Sprinkle mixture over filling. Fold edge of crust over filling, pleating crust to fit and leaving about 5 to 6 inches in center uncovered. Brush crust with milk; sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  • Bake at 425°F. for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F. Sprinkle almonds over filling. Bake at 350°F. for an additional 20 to 30 minutes or until edges are deep golden brown and fruit is tender.
  • Immediately loosen tart by running pancake turner under crust; place on wire rack. Cool 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool.

RUSTIC APPLE TART RECIPE | MYRECIPES
Purchased piecrust dough is a convenient time-saver. We like the flavor combo of sweet Golden Delicious and tart Granny Smith apples, but you can use any apple (or combination of apples) you like. If you'd like to keep strictly kosher when making this dessert for our Hanukkah menu, use walnut oil in place of butter, and look for pie dough made with shortening (and containing no lard).
