Fresh Peach Cobbler Recipe | Southern Living image

With 9 ingredients and 4 steps, this Southern peach cobbler is our easiest ever.If you're hosting a Memorial Day or 4th of July cookout this summer, this Fresh Peach Cobbler is perfect. Everyone will be raving about it and asking for more. It is so simple though that you can make this homemade cobbler on a random Sunday for a sweet treat. Little ones will enjoy this summer dessert just as much as the adults. This cobbler is delicious when it comes out of the oven and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but it is just as tasty served cool. We also love the addition of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor, but you can leave it out if you prefer. Craving cobbler when peaches aren't in season? You can easily substitute the peach slices for your favorite seasonal fruit. If you're planning on serving this cobbler after dinner, make sure everyone has saved plenty of room for dessert. They won't want to miss out on the sweet flavors.

Easy Skillet Bacon Jam Recipe - Tablespoon.com image

Craft this versatile condiment at home on your stovetop using ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

Provided by Wholefully

Total Time 45 minutes

Prep Time 5 minutes

Yield 16

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 medium onions, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 lb thick cut bacon, chopped
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
Salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add in the onions and garlic and cook until just tender and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  • Add in the bacon, and cook until the fat begins to render and the bacon begins to brown, about 5 minutes.
  • Add in the remaining ingredients (except the salt). Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently.
  • Continue to simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture is very dark and syrupy. This can take anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on the fat content of your bacon.
  • Cool completely, then transfer to a food processor. Pulse until well chopped, but not pasty. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. Yields 16 servings of 1 tablespoon each.

The skins from stone fruit will contribute color and flavor to the jam. But for a smoother mixture, you can start by peeling peaches or nectarines: Carve an X in the bottom of each and plunge them into boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer them to an ice-water bath to stop the cooking; the skins will slip off. For plums, just lift the skins out of the cooked jam …
