Steps:
- Grate the bar soap and add to the saucepan with two cups of water.
- Heat on medium until soap dissolves completely.
- Carefully pour the mixture into the bucket and add washing soda, baking soda, and Borax.
- Stir well.
- Slowly add hot water to almost the top of the bucket.
- Stir again.
- Put the lid on and wait at least 24 hours.
- Add the lavender essential oil and stir.
- Use 1/2 cup per normal load of laundry.

Steps:
- Add the 4 cups of water and grated soap to the pot and heat on medium until soap is dissolved. Stir constantly.
- Pour hot water into the bucket halfway and add the soapy water.
- Stir.
- Add the washing soda and baking soda and stir again.
- Fill the container the rest of the way with hot water and stir.
- Put on the lid and allow to sit for at least a day before using.
- Use one cup for top-loading washers and 1/2 cup for HE washing machines.
