This is my kind of favorite pizza. I have not try this one but this is almost the same as the one I did without any recipe. This is from the issue of November 2005, Coup de Pouce. ETA : I made it on July 24, 2011. I used 1 lb of lean ground beef. And also a store-bought dough already made. I made this pizza sauce : recipe#460241 I added chopped red bell pepper. DH said 10 stars and he didn't know it was my recipe.

1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper
1 lb pizza dough (for 1 pizza)
1/4 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper at medium-high heat, stirring from time to time, 3 to 5 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Drain any fat. Set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, lower the dough in a circle of 12 inches of diameter. Put on a greased pizza plate. Spread sauce on the pizza dough. Garnish with beef preparation and sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Cook on the lowest grill in a preheated oven of 500 F for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and crust is golden and slighly inflated.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to treat yourself after a hard day’s work, this ground beef and mozzarella pizza is the perfect idea. Ground beef is the star topping here. Cook it in tomato sauce, with a light hint of basil. Also, this is a pizza after all, so don’t skimp on the mozzarella!

Total Time 45 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 12

7 ounces of pizza dough, thawed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
7 ounces of ground beef
salt
pepper
½ cup tomato sauce
4 basil leaves
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 spring onion, chopped
¼ cup mozzarella, shredded

Steps:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook it until softens.
  • Add the ground beef and season it with salt and pepper.
  • Add half of the tomato sauce, basil leaves, and garlic. Cook the beef mixture for 7-8 minutes. When is cooked through, set it aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 430°F/220°C.
  • Dust your working space with flour. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes.
  • Level it with a rolling pin until thin.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the dough on it.
  • Evenly spread the remaining tomato sauce over the surface of the dough.
  • Top it with ground beef mixture, spring onion, and mozzarella.
  • Slide the tray into the oven and bake it for the next 15 minutes.
