Late-Night Breadsticks Recipe: How to Make It image

It took no time at all for our home economist to turn frozen bread dough into these irresistible breadsticks. Full cheese flavor, the speedy snacks disappear fast, especially if served with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.

Yield 16 breadsticks.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1 loaf (1 pound) frozen white bread dough, thawed
1/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the first five ingredients; set aside. Divide dough into 16 pieces; roll each into a 6-in. rope. Dip ropes in butter, then roll in cheese mixture. , Place 2 in. apart on a greased baking sheet. Let rest for 10 minutes. Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated dinner roll dough
¼ cup margarine, melted
1 tablespoon garlic salt
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Lightly grease one large baking sheet.
  • Divide each roll in half. Roll dough between hands to make a 4-inch long stick. Place sticks on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with egg white or melted butter or margarine. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese or sesame seeds. Cover and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Do not overbake as these burn easily on the bottom.
