10 pcs egg yolks
14 fl oz (1 can) condensed milk
1 cup or evaporated milk fresh milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Using all the eggs, separate the yolk from the egg white (only egg yolks will be used).
  • Place the egg yolks in a big bowl then beat them using a fork or an egg beater
  • Add the condensed milk and mix thoroughly
  • Pour-in the fresh milk and Vanilla. Mix well
  • Put the mold (llanera) on top of the stove and heat using low fire
  • Put-in the granulated sugar on the mold and mix thoroughly until the solid sugar turns into liquid (caramel) having a light brown color.
  • Spread the caramel (liquid sugar) evenly on the flat side of the mold
  • Wait for 5 minutes then pour the egg yolk and milk mixture on the mold
  • Cover the top of the mold using an Aluminum foil
  • Steam the mold with egg and milk mixture for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • After steaming, let the temperature cool down then refrigerate
  • Serve for dessert. Share and Enjoy!

This is my favorite recipe, learned from my mother. People love it and ask me for the recipe every time they try it, so here it is. I find it tastes better cold.

Yield 1 9-inch flan

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
6 eggs
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
? cup 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Fill a large oven-safe pot with water to 1 inch; bring to a boil.
  • Place sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract in a blender; blend until smooth.
  • Place sugar in an even layer in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until edges start to brown, about 1 minute; drag sugar into the center with a spatula once the edges start to brown. Continue cooking, stirring from time to time, until caramel is an even golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Pour caramel into a 9-inch flan mold or baking pan; swirl so that caramel reaches 1 inch up the sides. Pour condensed milk mixture on top. Place mold in the pot of boiling water.
  • Bake flan in the preheated oven until a damp table knife inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Chill flan in the refrigerator until firm, 2 to 3 hours. Invert onto a serving plate so that caramel is on top.

The flan can be made up to 1 day ahead of time; keep covered in the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature before serving. When ready to serve, run a thin paring knife around the outside edge of the flan. Flip the mold onto a serving dish and shake lightly until the flan is released. Garnish with the mint leaf, if desired.

I don’t see IP instructions on the recipe, and I think I need to eat this ??. I coated the caramel in the flan mold and bottom and place the flan ingredients on top. Then placed in the instant pot on the trivet with one cup of water. High pressure 15 minutes and natural release. Mold as in a casting or shape.
