HOW TO MAKE WHITE RICE IN THE MICROWAVE - EASY

How to Make White Rice in the Microwave - Easy image

Making white rice in the microwave is a very fast way of cooking it. Normally we take little advantage of using our microwaves and I think we can get much more from them than just using them to heat up milk or food. You can cook all kinds of food in the microwave: egg, fish, roast potatoes, delicious orange cake, etc. On this occasion, at OneHowTo, we show you how to make white rice in the microwave effectively by justusing a microwavable bowl.

Provided by Max. D Gray

Total Time 15 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 3

Rice
Water
Salt

Steps:

  • The first step to make white rice in the microwave is to put the desired amount of rice in the bowl which you will cook it in. Ideally, get a glass or cup for measuring, and put in twice as much water as the amount of rice. For example, if I put in a cup of rice, add two cups of water, and salt to taste.
  • Next, you should put it in the microwave and cook it for about ten minutes at 750W .
  • After ten minutes you should take it out of the microwave and stir it well. If it is already to your own liking (some people prefer their rice softer than others), take it out and if you want it cooked more, you should put the bowl in the microwave again for about two more minutes .
  • As soon as it is cooked, pour it directly in a colander and put it under the tap to let the water run through it.
  • Finally, leave it to stand for a while in the colander so that excess water can drain away properly. Now you're done making your microwaveable rice, you can add delicious sauces to it such as curry sauce and accompany it with a freshly made naan for an easy Indian style meal.

PERFECT BROWN RICE IN A STEAMER RECIPE - FOOD.COM
We've started eating whole grains and that means we now eat brown rice instead of the starchy white rice. But it takes so long to cook it, so I was trying to find the correct formula for making it in my rice steamer. So I could cook it on the weekends and have it ready to go for the week. This "recipe" makes about 6 cups, which for my family is two dinners worth plus some. I've also included freezing instructions for the extra servings.

  • Put basmati and cold water in a 3-quart microwave-safe dish and cook on high, uncovered, 15 minutes, or until steam holes appear in rice. Cover dish and cook on high 5 more minutes. Let rice stand, covered, 5 minutes and fluff with a fork. You'll note that using the microwave shaves only five minutes off the traditional stove-top method, but faster is not the issue here. Better is.
