Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 1 hours 30 minutes

Yield 1 cup, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 apples
apple pie spice
cinnamon
Pam cooking spray

Steps:

  • Slice apples VERY thin and lay in single layer on parchment lined pans. I used 2 apples and it took up 2 pans.
  • Spray with the Pam spray coating (this allows the spice to adhere).
  • Sprinkle the Apple slices with Apple Pie Spice. You could also use Cinnamon, Cinnamon Sugar.whatever your taste preference. I choose to not use sugar as the sugars in the apples really concentrates as they bake.
  • Bake @ 200 f for approx 1.5 hours, till crispy.(I flipped the slices halfway through.).
  • The apples will firm up a bit more after taking from the oven.
  • Let cool and enjoy!

APPLE CHIPS RECIPE | SOUTHERN LIVING
Apples and cinnamon are the only two ingredients in this recipe, and believe us when we argue this may be one of the best snacks you can make for yourself. The Apple Chips are crisp at the first bite and become soft as you chew. A kitchen mandolin is used to slice these apples into 1/16-inch thick rings. These slices are then lightly coated in cinnamon before baking for 2 hours at a relatively low oven temperature. The time in the oven allows the moisture in the apple rings to evaporate and the sugars in the apples condense inside the rings. When the apple come out of the oven, they will be shriveled and yet still feel soft to the touch. After a long time at 225°F, the natural sugars in the apple's flesh melt and take on a liquid state, which accounts for the softness of the warm apple rings. However, these sugars recrystallize and harden as the apple chips cool, giving them a unique sweetness and crispness, making them all the more irresistible. In addition to being tasty and easy to snack on, these apple chips can be enjoyed guilt-free because they maintain the fiber and nutrients of an apple with no added sugar.
