Here's what you need: large apples, sugar, cinnamon

8 large apples, washed and peeled
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Place the apple peels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle it over the peels.
  • Toss the peels with your hands until evenly coated with the sugar mixture.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes, tossing the peels halfway through with a pair of tongs.
  • Let cool before eating.
  • Enjoy!

Faced with the usual pile of apple peels after baking a pie, our food editors came up with this clever snack. Toss apple with cinnamon sugar and bake for about two-and-a-half hours until the peels have crisped.

12 organic apples
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Toss peels from apples with cinnamon sugar; sprinkling peels with a few drops of water will help the mixture stick. Spread in a single layer on 2 parchment-lined baking sheets, and bake in a preheated 250 degrees oven until peels are curled and crisp, about 2 hours 30 minutes, rotating halfway through. Let cool before serving.

  • 1. Preheat oven to 170°F or the lowest temperature possible. Prepare a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  2. Peel the apples from stem to base. Once all of the apples are peeled, stack the peels and cut them in half lengthwise. Alternatively, an apple peeler tool can also be used. This will create long strands of apple peel. Cut these strands down to 3-4” pieces. 3. Place the apple peels onto a large baking sheet. Add the cinnamon and ginger. Mix to coat evenly. Spread the peels out into a single layer on the baking sheet. 4. Bake for 1½ - 2½ hours until the apple peels are crunchy and have started to curl, mixing occasionally. Cooking times will vary depending on thickness of the peels.
