HERB CRUST DOUGH:
2 tbsp. 1 envelope yeast
1 1/2 cups water
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt (optional)
2 leaves chadon beni (finely chopped)
1/2 tsp. thyme (finely chopped)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2- 1 tsp. chive (finely chopped)
1/2 tsp. parsley
1/4 cup oil (olive or coconut oil)
PIZZZA SAUCE:
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup tomato ketchup
1 tsp. fresh thyme
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. grated garlic
2 tsp. grated onion
3 tsp. parsley
2 tsp. celery
SUGGESTED TOPPINGS:
1 green pepper
1 tin yellow sweet corn
1 cup tomatoes
1 cup grated carrots
1/2 cup mushrooms
8 stuffed olives
2 cups grated cheese
Sausage
Note: Nutritional information includes the above ingredients (excluding the sausage.)

Steps:

  • Sift the flour, add the herbs and the yeast. Mix the oil and water together and stir the liquid into the flour.
  • Stir to a smooth dough. Knead the dough and allow it to rest for about 15 minutes. Divide into two and roll out into 28" circles. Rest the dough into 35" pizza pans.
  • Spread the sauce evenly over the dough. Add the various toppings of your choice. (We added chopped onions, sweet peppers, tomatoes, corn, pimento and salami).
  • Sprinkle cheese, lots of cheese, and bake for 25-30 minutes in a preheated oven at 230 degrees, or until golden brown.

This is my kind of favorite pizza. I have not try this one but this is almost the same as the one I did without any recipe. This is from the issue of November 2005, Coup de Pouce. ETA : I made it on July 24, 2011. I used 1 lb of lean ground beef. And also a store-bought dough already made. I made this pizza sauce : recipe#460241 I added chopped red bell pepper. DH said 10 stars and he didn't know it was my recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper
1 lb pizza dough (for 1 pizza)
1/4 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper at medium-high heat, stirring from time to time, 3 to 5 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Drain any fat. Set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, lower the dough in a circle of 12 inches of diameter. Put on a greased pizza plate. Spread sauce on the pizza dough. Garnish with beef preparation and sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Cook on the lowest grill in a preheated oven of 500 F for about 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and crust is golden and slighly inflated.

  • In large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add oil and salt. Stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 2-3 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, breaking meat into crumbles; drain. , Punch down dough; divide in half. Press each half into a greased 12-in. pizza pan.
