This bread is most like the soft white bread that you buy at the store. If you like a softer crust, butter the top and put in a zip-loc bag.

Yield 1 2lb. loaf

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup instant potato flakes
1/4 cup powdered milk
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup warm water

Steps:

  • Whisk together the yeast, 1/4 cup warm water and sugar.
  • Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
  • Add ingredients in the order suggested by your manufacturer, including the yeast mixture.
  • Select the basic and light crust setting.
  • A white bread recipe without a strong yeast flavor.
  • Proofing the yeast first eliminates some of the yeast taste from the final product.
  • Makes 2 lb loaf.

This homemade copycat Wonder Bread is soft and delicious, and makes delicious peanut butter sandwiches

Provided by Karen's Kitchen Stories

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 ounces (1/3 cup) all purpose flour
6 ounces (3/4 cup) milk, whole or low fat
15 ounces (3 1/3 cups) bleached all purpose flour
2 ounces (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
1 1/2 ounces (1/3 cup) malted milk powder
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons Diamond Crystal salt, or 3/4 teaspoon table salt
6 ounces (3/4 cup) whole milk
1 1/2 ounces (1/4 cup) room temperature coconut oil

Steps:

  • Whisk together the flour and water in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until you have a thick pudding-like paste, about 2 minutes. 
  • Set aside to cool. 
  • Sift the flour into the bowl of a stand mixer. Add the sugar, malted milk powder, yeast, salt, milk, coconut oil, and the tangzhong. 
  • Knead on low speed for about 12 minutes. The dough should pass the windowpane test. 
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot until fuffy, about 30 to 45 minutes. 
  • Press the dough with your fingertip. If it stays indented, your dough is ready. 
  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees F. Oil an 8 inch by 5 inch loaf pan. 
  • Turn the dough out onto your work surface, pat it into a rectangle, and roll it into a log. Place it seam side down into the pan. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot until the dough crowns the pan, about 25 minutes. 
  • Bake the loaf for about 45 minutes, until it reaches an internal temperature of 200 degrees F. 
  • Turn the bread out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

SOFT AS WONDER WHITE BREAD RECIPE - FOOD.COM
This is my standard loaf of white bread, good for anything. Very soft. I mix it in the bread machine then bake it in the oven. As with all my bread, I let it cool and then slice the whole loaf and put in a freezer bag and freeze and then I can take whatever I need out and have fresh bread. This does not include machine and rising time.
