WILTONS ROYAL ICING | JUST A PINCH RECIPES

Wiltons Royal Icing | Just A Pinch Recipes image

Wilton's is a fantastic Brand Name that has been around for many years..What is great about this is that is like having everything in one...You aren't wondering if these egg whites are any good or if that is going to work... This smooth, hard-drying icing is perfect for making decorations that last. It is also useful as a "cement" to fasten decorations together. Royal icing is edible, but not recommended for icing cakes.

ROYAL ICING RECIPE | MYRECIPES
Look for meringue powder (dried egg whites) at large discount stores, or at wilton.com. You may need to prepare several batches of Royal Icing for the Gingerbread Lighthouse depending on how thick the “snow” is on the base and how much is used to “glue” candy pieces to gingerbread structure.

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until firm enough to pipe, but still of spreading consistency. Divide into bowls, and tint with food coloring. Cover bowls with a damp cloth to prevent a crust from forming while icing.

GLOSSY ROYAL ICING RECIPE | ALLRECIPES
I received this recipe from a professional baker. I prefer to use this instead of a regular royal icing recipe with egg whites. It hardens nicely and is glossy rather than matte like regular royal icing. Use almond, orange, or lemon extract, whatever you prefer.

FLEXIBLE ROYAL ICING - CAKECENTRAL.COM
I just found out that you can use powdered gumpaste mix to make a flexible royal icing. I tried the baker's kitchen brand of g.p. mix and the instructions are on the bag. Usually when I pipe out decorations like snowflakes or monograms, they are so brittle that I have to make 2 times as many as I need to cover for breakage.
