WHITE WINE SANGRIA RECIPE | SOUTHERN LIVING

White Wine Sangria Recipe | Southern Living image

Stylish yet relaxed, there's something about a cool glass of sangria that's made for sunshine sipping. While we're sure to say yes to a tall glass of red, a crisp and colorful white wine sangria screams summertime relaxation down South. Fresh peaches, sweet fruit, and white wine – what's there not to love?Fruity, lightly sweet, and pleasantly refreshing, our recipe features Lillet blanc. Made from Bordeaux grapes and macerated fruit liqueurs, Lillet blanc is fruity, but not overly sweet. It's a lovely cocktail ingredient available at any liquor store. Add in Southern peaches from the local farmers' market, fresh fruit, and a dry white wine, and you've got a winning combination. The real trick to a tasty glass takes place in the pitcher. Once all of the ingredients come together, refrigerate your pitcher, stirring occasionally for several hours. The longer it sits, the better it gets. Come sippin' time, we recommend bringing the pitcher and ice to the table separately. If you add ice to all of your white wine sangria, the mixture will get watered down while it sits on the table. Instead, pour over individual glasses of ice for your guests. As pretty to pour as it is refreshing, this recipe is the perfect porch-sitting or pool party accessory. Don't be surprised if guests grab a second pour (or two).

Provided by Southern Living

Total Time 2 hours 10 minutes

Yield Serves 8 (serving size: about 3/4 cup)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 medium lemon, halved crosswise
1 medium-size ripe peach, unpeeled and cut into thin wedges
1/2 cup halved green grapes
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
3 basil sprigs
1 (750-milliliter) bottle dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
1 cup (8 oz.) Lillet Blanc

Steps:

  • Thinly slice 1 of the lemon halves; squeeze the other lemon half to yield 2 tablespoons juice into a small bowl (discarding seeds and squeezed lemon half). Place lemon slices, peach wedges, grapes, raspberries, and basil in a large pitcher. Add wine, Lillet Blanc, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice; gently stir. Refrigerate, stirring occasionally, until mixture has chilled and fruit has sweetened the wine, 2 to 3 hours. Serve chilled.
