¾ (16 ounce) package spaghetti
¼ cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped, or more to taste
1 cup water
1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain and transfer to a serving bowl.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook and stir garlic in the hot oil until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Mix water and salad dressing mix into garlic; simmer until liquid has reduced into a sauce, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Pour sauce over spaghetti; toss to coat.

1/2 cup olive oil (or use a combination of oil and butter)
1 tablespoon garlic powder (or 3-4 cloves of chopped, fresh garlic)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon italian seasoning (or use 2-3 tb of chopped, fresh basil, parsley, oregano and thyme)
salt

Steps:

  • Boil the pasta al-dente, drain and place in a large bowl.
  • Mix all other ingredients in a small bowl, add to pasta.
  • adjust seasonings and oil to taste.
  • serve with parmesian cheese and bread.

I needed a great meal that was super-quick one night for his dinner; I had spicy battered shrimp on hand that I wanted to use and a couple choices of dried pasta. This sauce sounded perfect to tie it all together! Served over tortiglioni pasta with salad and toasted Italian bread. Just like I spent all day on dinner. It is really hard to mess-up this kind of white sauce. In my opinion, it was very much like an Alfredo sauce! Of course there is very little difference in the two sauces.
