WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE RECIPE | MYRECIPES
At many barbecue joints across the South, white barbecue sauce (sometimes referred to as Alabama white BBQ sauce) is the sauce of choice. It's typically a mayonnaise-based sauce, made tangy with the addition of vinegar, horseradish, and mustard. Fans of white sauce say that once you've doused your barbecued chicken in this sauce, you'll never go back to red barbecue sauce. Personally, we like a little bit of both on a pulled pork sandwich, but especially for smoked chicken, you absolutely can't beat the rich tang of white barbecue sauce. Try it on any of your barbecue favorites this summer, from slabs of ribs to Texas-style brisket. This white BBQ sauce recipe happens to be great for drizzling, but if you prefer a thicker sauce, omit some or all of the water. If you don’t have Creole mustard on hand or have a difficult time finding it in your supermarket, you can easily substitute your favorite grainy or coarse ground mustard instead.

"It's the only sauce we know here, because it's what everyone grows up on." Most folks like to serve Alabama white sauce with smoked or grilled chicken, but this versatile condiment can jazz up just about any piece of meat. WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE RECIPE | FOOD & WINE
If you’ve never sampled Alabama’s signature barbecue sauce, let this easy recipe be your grand introduction. Less sweet than tomato-based barbecue sauces, this fast, no-cook sauce has a sharp tang from vinegar and Worcestershire sauce that cuts through rich and fatty barbecued meats with grace. This mayonnaise-based condiment is also great for dunking french fries, fried pickles, and fresh veggies. Down south, it’s most famously paired with grilled chicken, but it’s also the perfect contrasting partner for ribs, barbecue sandwiches, and wings.

ALABAMA WHITE BARBECUE RECIPE - FOOD.COM
It's funny, I lived in Mississippi for a long time very close to Alabama and I never had this while I was there. It just figures that I would wait years to taste this deliciously different barbecue, which is creamy, tangy, and nicely smoky. The sauce will be thinner than what you normally expect with a tomato based sauce but it has just enough umph to make this chicken special. Now that my family has tried this, they wonder where it has been all their life!!!
