2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1-2 teaspoons cayenne powder
1/2 cup water
1 cup of Whiskey plus more for ketchup
1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Ketchup for serving

Steps:

  • <ol> <li>Slice potatoes into French fries, and place into cold water and Whiskey for 15-30 minutes the longer the better.</li> <li>Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, sift the flour, garlic salt, onion salt, (regular) salt, cayenne, smoked paprika into a large bowl.</li> <li>Gradually stir in enough water so that the mixture can be drizzled from a spoon.</li> <li>Dip potato slices into the batter one at a time, and place in the hot oil so they are not touching at first. The fries must be placed into the skillet one at a time, or they will clump together.</li> <li>Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.</li> <li>Whisk ketchup with a little whiskey and serve alongside fries.</li> </ol>

16 ounces pretzel twists
1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons whiskey
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 250 deg F.
  • Add butter, whiskey, brown sugar, garlic and cayenne to saucepan and cook over low heat until melted.
  • Spread pretzels on a baking sheet and pour butter mixture over pretzels. Toss to coat.
  • Bake 10 minutes. Stir mixture and bake 10 more minutes.
  • Allow to cool and enjoy!
