this recipe has been in my family for my entire live. It is easy to make, easy to take, and most importantly easy to double, triple and so on. Does well in a crock pot, slow cooker or on the stove top. My grandma used to make a huge batch of this every time a family member moved so we would have food to feed the people helping us move!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pound(s) ground beef, turkey or venison
1 medium onion or a couple of teaspoons of minced onions
1 cup(s) ketchup
1 tablespoon(s) mustard
1 teaspoon(s) apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon(s) sugar

Steps:

  • chop onion finely, brown beef (or any combination of ground meat) in skillet, drain fat
  • add remaining ingredients and stir. Should have a tangy sweet bbq sort of taste to the sauce at this point
  • if cooking on stove top, cover skillet and simmer on low for 30 to 45 minutes to let flavors cook together
  • if cooking in crock pot or slow cooker, cook on hi for about 15 minutes, then turn to low, stir occasionally will stay moist and yummy all day
  • you can have any combination of ground meats, we have used venison, turkey, pork, and beef. I don't always add additional onions if I am cooking a double batch

The best "sloppy joe's" I've ever tasted. The original recipe I got from another website, but made some changes.

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/2 cup water
1 cup celery, diced
1 green pepper, diced (I use 1/2 pepper)
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion (I use 1/2)
hamburger bun

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef and drain.
  • Combine remaining ingredients bring to boil, add beef, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Serve over toasted hamburger buns, open face style.

Dec 19, 2011 · Instructions. Brown ground beef, onion and garlic together in a large pan. Add celery and red pepper when the beef is about half way cooked. Continue cooking till beef is done. Drain and rinse beef in colander under hot water to remove grease. Return to pan. Add remaining ingredients (except buns). Heat over medium heat till hot through.
