The wonderful smell of homemade bread baking will fill your kitchen when you prepare this simple bread. Using a bread machine can save time when preparing the dough.

1 cup warm (105°F to 115°F) milk
1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast
2 3/4 to 3 1/4 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon Land O Lakes® Butter softened
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place warm milk in large bowl; add yeast. Stir to dissolve. Stir in 2 3/4 cups flour, sugar, butter, and salt until soft dough forms.
  • Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead dough, adding additional bread flour 1 tablespoon at a time, if necessary, 5-10 minutes or until dough is smooth.
  • Place dough into greased bowl; turn, greased-side up. Cover; let rise in warm place 45-60 minutes or until double in size.
  • Punch down dough; divide dough into thirds. Roll out each third to 10x5-inch rectangle. Fold 5-inch sides crosswise into thirds, overlapping dough. Roll up tightly, beginning at wide end. Pinch edge of dough to seal well; press in ends of roll.
  • Place each loaf into greased 5 3/4x3-inch loaf pan, seam-side down. Cover; let rise in warm place 30-45 minutes or until double in size.
  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Bake 20-30 minutes or until loaves are golden brown.

This is one of the best breads I have made. It is easy and the taste is wonderful.They are something like the Pillsbury regrigerated loaf bread.

1 package(s) active dry yeast
2 tablespoon(s) oil
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
2 1/2 cup(s) flour
- 1 tablespoon of honey or sugar if you want it sweeter(optional
1 cup(s) warm water
1/4 teaspoon(s) garlic(optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the yeast and 1 cup of warm water (105-115 degrees) in large bowl,stirring until dissolved.
  • Mix in oil,garlic,and salt
  • Add 2 cups flour and stir till smooth.Stir in enough additional flour untill the dough forms a ball.
  • Knead dough on floured surface and add more flour if too sticky.Knead till smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl and cover in a warm place to rise until its double in size,about 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough and divide into two loaves.Shape each dough into a loaf about 9 inches long.
  • Place loaves on greased baking sheet.Make three 1/2 diagonal cuts on the top.
  • Loosely cover with plastice wrap and let dough rise 20-30 minutes.
  • Bake at 450 degrees for 15-18 minutes till golden brown.
