French toast just like Mom's and as easy as 1-2-3!

8 (1-inch) slices French bread
1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Half & Half
3 large Land O Lakes® Eggs slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Fresh Buttery Taste® Spread
Powdered sugar, if desired
Maple syrup

Steps:

  • Combine half & half, eggs and vanilla in 9-inch pie plate; mix well. Using tongs or fork, dip bread slices into half & half mixture, turning to coat both sides. Let stand 1-2 minutes.
  • Melt Fresh Buttery Taste Spread in 10-inch skillet or griddle until sizzling; add bread slices. Cook, turning once, 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Place onto serving plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve with maple syrup.

This isn't your typical French toast. But it is what I was raised on! I couldn't understand why resturaunts didn't serve real french toast when I was little. This one is a much thicker "coated" and just a different texture to it. Can be doubled. I hope your family enjoys it as much as ours does! Can be made with any kind of bread you like, white, whole wheat, I tried texas toast bread and that was pretty good also!

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
6 slices bread

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together except for bread.
  • Once well mixed coat bread on both sides and drop onto a pre-heated griddle on medium heat.
  • Brown each side and serve with your favorite syrup!
  • I get about 6 slices of bread into mine, depending on size of bread used.
