Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pasteurized egg white
6 ounces whiskey 
6 ounces lemon juice 
4 ounces Simple Syrup, recipe follows
4 high-quality maraschino cherries, such as Luxardo
1 cup sugar

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker with ice, add the egg white and shake briefly to aerate the whites. Then add the whiskey, lemon juice and Simple Syrup with ice and shake well. Strain into 4 rocks glasses over 1 large ice cube in each glass, garnish with a cherry and serve immediately.
  • Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 month.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 stick Butter, Divided
2 lb. (to 3 Pounds) Carrots, Peeled And Cut Into Thick Circles
1/2 c. Jack Daniels Or Other Whiskey
3/4 c. (to 1 Cup) Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp. (to 1 Teaspoon) Salt
Freshly Ground Pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over high heat. Add carrots in two batches, cooking for 60-90 seconds each batch. Remove from skillet.Pour in whiskey and allow to evaporate 30 seconds. Reduce heat to medium, and add remaining butter. When butter melts, sprinkle brown sugar over the top. Stir together, then add carrots to skillet. Cover, and continue cooking for 5 minutes.Remove lid and add salt and pepper. Continue cooking until carrots are done and glaze is thick, about 5 more minutes.Pour onto a platter and serve immediately. Sprinkle with chopped chives if desired. Stick a serving spoon in the mix, and it’s time to serve ‘em up. And oh, what a wonderful time it is. I gobbled these up ‘til I embarrassed myself.And you will, too. I know it.

  • Preheat oven to 300°. Grease and flour a 10-in. tube pan., Combine the first 6 ingredients; beat on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes; fold in 1 cup nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan; sprinkle with remaining nuts. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 60-65 minutes. Cool in pan., For glaze, mix all ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Cool 3 minutes. Pour one-third of glaze over top of cake, allowing some to flow over sides. Let stand 1 hour. Remove from pan to cool completely; cover., The next day, reheat glaze; brush half over cake, cooling before covering. Repeat the following day, using remaining glaze.
