Use this easy, creamy vanilla cream cheese frosting with our best white cupcakes recipe.

Yield Makes enough for 24 cupcakes Servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Using an electric mixer on medium-low speed, beat cream cheese, butter, and salt in a large bowl until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat on low speed until incorporated, then increase speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl, then beat in vanilla. Spread frosting on cupcakes.

3 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 to 2 tablespoons whipping cream

Steps:

  • In a standing mixer fitted with a whisk, mix together sugar and butter. Mix on low speed until well blended and then increase speed to medium and beat for another 3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium speed for 1 minute more, adding more cream if needed for spreading consistency.
