Since it's not socially acceptable to visit Cracker Barrel™ just for their fried apples, we made this copycat version so you can have them whenever you want—like, every day with every meal. No judgments here.

Provided by Tablespoon Kitchens

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 tablespoons butter
4 medium Golden Delicious apples, cored, cut into 3/4-inch wedges (about 2 lb)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup apple cider
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • In 12-inch nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, sugars and spices; stir to coat. Cover; cook 11 to 14 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender. Transfer to serving dish; cover to keep warm.
  • In small cup, beat cider and cornstarch with whisk; add to same skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly to blend. Simmer 30 to 60 seconds or until thickened. Pour mixture over apples, and serve.
