¼ cup butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
? teaspoon baking powder
? teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1?½ tablespoons milk
1 cup powdered sugar
12 red candy-coated chocolate pieces (such as M&M's®)

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 12-cup mini muffin tin with cooking spray.

  • Roast the turkey on lowest level of the oven at 500 degrees F for 30 minutes. Insert a probe thermometer into thickest part of the breast and reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Set the thermometer alarm (if available) to 161 degrees F. A 14 to 16 pound bird should require a total of 2 to 2 1/2 hours of roasting. Let the turkey rest, loosely covered with foil or a large mixing bowl for 15 minutes before carving.

  • Pour the brownie batter into the greased pan and use a rubber spatula to scrape out all that chocolate goodness. This is the part where I usually lick the spatula if no one is looking. Bake the brownies in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes. You can check for doneness by sticking a toothpick right in the middle. If it comes out clean, you're only seconds away from chocolate heaven. Cool the brownies before cutting. Editor's note: This article has been updated as a part of our archive repair project.
