1 pound ground turkey
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
2 tablespoons steak sauce
cooking spray
4 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together ground turkey, onion soup mix and steak sauce. Shape into 4 patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and lightly coat with cooking spray. Cook burgers 4 minutes on each side. Serve on hamburger buns.

I'm always working my recipes to keep my calories down. Mixing lean hamburger and adding ground turkey, that still keeps the flavor of the hamburger. Your guest will never know and they are half ground beef and ground turkey, a crowed pleaser as well. My husband and I lost 80lbs. For us, just changing our mind set by always revamping recipes and working ingredients with out losing flavor. So I find by sharing what we create to keep and count every calorie, fat and carb, its like a challenge. Sandwich Thins Multigrain or a lettuce wrap is what we use unless we have guest over.

1-1/4 pound(s) 80/20 ground beef
1-1/4 pound(s) 85% lean ground turkey
1 tablespoon(s) garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon(s) onion powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground pepper
1/2 tablespoon(s) sea salt
1-1/2 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Mix all the ingredients in large mixing bowl, massage the mixture well so all the meat is blended well with ingredients.
  • Create six size tennis balls with the meat., then compress the meant with your thumbs to make the patties
  • Grill the patties on high heat for 6 min on the first side then 4-5 minutes on the second side. let burgers rest for 5 min before serving.
  • Serve with your veggies and condiments. optional... add cheese, bacon strips. Burgers are perfect for a lettuce wrap if keeping the carbs down.

On the stovetop: Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and swirl to coat the pan. Place the patties in the skillet and let cook for 5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until the internal temperature of the turkey burger reaches 165°, about 5 more minutes.  If you like cheese on your burgers, add it during the last minute of cooking, then cover to melt. Alternatively cook on the grill: Preheat your grill over medium-high heat, 400 to 425°. Oil the grill grates. Place the patties on the grill over direct heat. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, covered, or until the internal temperature reads 165°. If you like cheese on your burgers, add during the last minute of cooking, then cover to melt. Serve immediately on toasted buns with whatever toppings you like!
