handed down and delicious...never told exactly what was a click, smidgen or dash....but have yet to make a bad mold...so I don't worry about it. You can skip the gelatin and make it a spread....same delicious taste and easy to serve on sandwiches or with crackers!

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 - 5oz. can(s) tuna, canned (drained and chopped)
8oz. box(es) cream cheese (softened)
1 can(s) tomato soup (10 - 3/4 oz)
2 package(s) gelatin, unflavored (4 per box - only use 2)
1 cup(s) mayonnaise
1 - medium onion (finely chopped)
1 - bell pepper (finely chopped)
3 - celery stalks (finely chopped)
1 - 2oz. jar(s) pimento (drained and chopped)
1 cup(s) pecans (chopped) or walnuts
1/2 cup(s) water
smidgen - pepper
dash - garlic powder
click - salt

Steps:

  • Mix soup, water and gelatin completely - then heat soup mix on stove with cream cheese on medium. Stirring continuously until melted and well mixed. Set aside to cool.
  • Combine all other ingredients and add soup to the mix.
  • Pour in mold or bowl and refrigerate until set. Usually overnight.
  • Serve with crackers or in sandwiches. Delicious!

Every family cooks up something different on Christmas day, so we thought we’d share some of our own with you this festive season. Our editor, Heather, got this recipe from her grandmother, and she fondly remembers her gran bringing it along to Christmas lunch every year as a child.

Yield If you don’t have a fish-shaped mould to make yours, don’t worry. This lovely terrine can be easily made in a loaf tin as well.  servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

¼ cup cold water
1 leaf gelatin
2 × 170g tin tuna, drained
2 cups mayo
2 hard-boiled eggs, peeled, chopped
½ cup stuffed green olives
2 tbsp capers

Steps:

  • 1. Oil a 1½L fish-shaped mould.
  • 2. Place the gelatin in ¼ cup cold water and leave to bloom for 10 minutes. Place over low heat and dissolve. Remove from heat.
  • 3. Add remaining ingredients to the gelatin. Transfer to the mould. Chill overnight, or until set.
  • 4. Unmould and decorate with olives and salad greens.

COTTAGE TUNA SALAD MOLD | CANADIAN GOODNESS
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin has dissolved. Add salt; cool. Drain tuna well; break up with a fork. Stir tuna, Canadian Cottage cheese, mayonnaise, Caesar salad dressing, celery, green pepper and onion into gelatin mixture. Chill until mixture mounds from a spoon (30 to 45 min). TUNA MOUSSE MOLD RECIPES
Place the tuna, mayonnaise, ketchup, paprika, white pepper and sugar in an electric blender. Process until smooth. Add the gelatin into the mixture and process again until it becomes a uniform paste. Carefully spoon the tuna mixture into the terrine over the olives until the dish is full to the rim. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. When ready, remove the tuna mousse from the mold and serve.
