This is the ONLY thumbprint I will make. I tried other recipes and this one is the best. The cream cheese keeps the cookies from being dry and cracking. They look as good as they taste

Steps:
- Cream the Butter, Shortening Cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Mix flour and salt in a separate bowl.
- Add flour mixture in small batches to the butter mixture mixing well.
- Chill dough for 2-3 hours.
- Roll into 1”balls dip in egg white and roll in chopped nuts.
- Fill with Raspberry or Apricot Jam.
- Bake at 350 for 10-13 minutes.

These cherry-topped Cream Cheese Cookies are one of my family's favorite Christmas cookies! We've been making these festive, melt-in-your mouth cookies for as long as I can remember.

Steps:
- Using an electric mixer, cream butter and cream cheese together. Add sugar, egg, and almond extract and mix until well combined. Sift dry ingredients together over the mixer bowl; mix on lowest speed until combined.
- Chill dough for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Form dough into 1 inch balls. (Cookies turn out best when the dough balls are tiny.) Roll each ball in the chopped walnuts and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Press a half cherry into each cookie.
- Bake for 9-12 minutes, until barely set and lightly golden on the bottom. Be careful not to over-bake.

- Bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven and press centres down again. Return to oven and bake 10 to 12 minutes longer or until golden around edges. Cool on sheet 5 minutes then transfer to rack and cool completely. If desired, fill centre of cookies with jam while warm or let cool and fill later.

In another bowl, whisk flour and cocoa; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Roll into 1-in. balls; roll in coarse sugar. Place 2 in. apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Press a deep indentation in center of each with the back of a 1/2-teaspoon measuring spoon., Bake 10 minutes. Meanwhile, for filling, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg white, vanilla and salt until blended. Reshape indentations in par-baked cookies as needed. Add 1 teaspoon filling to each cookie. Bake until filling is set, 10-12 minutes longer. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
