Steakhouse Mushrooms Recipe: How to Make It image

I got this recipe from a friend back when we were in nursing school. Whenever my husband is cooking meat on the grill, you can bet I'll be in the kitchen preparing these mushrooms. —Kenda Burgett, Rattan, Oklahoma

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 pound medium fresh mushrooms
2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon browning sauce, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook and stir until tender. Stir in seasonings and, if desired, browning sauce. Reduce heat to medium; cook, covered, for 3-5 minutes to allow flavors to blend.

This is from my cousin in Dallas and he says it's a serious favorite in his part of the country and a regular when the steaks are grilling. His wife, Monette, backs his up on this and says that they go through a lot of mushrooms in the summer. It's a knock off of the Texas Roadhouse Restaurants mushrooms.

Number Of Ingredients 10

MUSHROOM SEASONING:
1 tablespoon(s) salt
2 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 tablespoon(s) black pepper
3 tablespoon(s) onion salt
1/2 cup(s) granulated garlic
TO COOK MUSHROOMS:
1/4 pound(s) butter
2 1/2 pound(s) halved button mushrooms
3/4 cup(s) water

Steps:

  • Melt butter over high heat. Add mushrooms, stir to coat in the butter.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of mushroom seasoning, coat all mushrooms evenly. Cook over high heat until all water has cooked out of mushrooms (8-10 minutes).
  • Reduce heat to medium, and sear mushrooms for about 7 more minutes. Add water and cook over high heat for about 1 minute.
  • Serve over your favorite steak or as a side and enjoy!
