1 medium onion, chopped
1 (10.75 ounce) can Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 cups frozen Tater Tots

Steps:

  • Cook beef and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until beef is well browned, stirring to break up meat. Pour off fat.
  • Stir soup, ketchup and Worcestershire into skillet. Spoon beef mixture into 12x8-inch shallow baking dish. Arrange potatoes around edge of casserole.
  • Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minutes or until potatoes are done.

1 (32 ounce) package frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Tater Tots®), divided
1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Montreal-style steak seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
½ cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a 13x9-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • Spread 20 potato nuggets in the casserole dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven until warmed through, about 10 minutes.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef and onion in the hot skillet until beef is completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Season beef mixture with 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  • Stir cream of mushroom soup, milk, 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce together in a bowl.
  • Smash the warmed potato nuggets in the casserole dish to cover the bottom completely. Spread ground beef mixture over the mashed potato nuggets. Pour soup mixture evenly over the beef layer. Top with remaining potato nuggets and sprinkle 1 cup Cheddar cheese evenly over the nuggets.
  • Bake in preheated oven until casserole is bubbly and potatoes golden brown, 30 to 40 minutes.

I got this recipe from my sister-in-law when I got married and my husband's aunt had a cherry tree. It is our favorite! Prep time does not include the time it takes to pit the cherries or make the pie crust. ;) I use the Pie Crust recipe in the Fanny Farmer Baking Book. Recipe #13619 is the recipe for 2 8-inch crust. (I've found I have to refrigerate it for the pie filling to firm up and not be "soupy" when it has cooled. Once it has completely chilled, you can store it at room temperature and it doesn't lose its firmness. Or, store it in the fridge and warm it in the microwave a little bit before serving it with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.)

  • Make tangzhong: In a small pot over medium-low heat, continuously whisk together 3 tablespoons flour and ? cup water until mixture is thickened and begins to bubble, 3 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, whisk together water, sugar, and yeast and let sit until frothy, about 15 minutes. Add to bowl remaining flours, the cooled tangzhong, and salt. Using a spatula, mix ingredients until a wet, soft dough forms. Cover bowl and let rest 30 minutes to 1 hour. With dampened hands, going around the bowl, pick up one edge of the dough, stretch it upwards and fold it toward the opposite edge. Repeat this stretch and fold motion around the dough, then flip dough upside down so that the smooth side is facing up. Cover and rest at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours, performing a stretch-and-fold every 45 minutes to 1 hour, for a total of four sets of stretch and folds.  After the final stretch and fold, halve dough and shape each half into a smooth boule. Grease two small bowls with olive oil, then place a boule into each bowl, seam-side down. Cover and rest overnight in the refrigerator, up to 4 days. (The longer the rest, the more flavorful the dough!) Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, stir together all sauce ingredients until well combined. Refrigerate until ready for assembly. Bake until cheese is bubbly and lightly golden, sauce is mostly set, and edges are caramelized, 11 to 14 minutes. Let pie cool briefly in skillet, then transfer to a cooling rack before serving.
