Talbeenah, an anti depressant is a protection against diseases of the heart and circulatory system, as it protects the arteries from arteriosclerosis – especially the major arteries of the heart. It also protects against angina, reduction of blood supply and depression. Talbeenah, an anti depressant is barley syrup cooked with milk and sweetened by honey. In His famous Hadith on Talbeenah, an anti depressant the Prophet Mohammad (SAW) recommended it when sad events happen for its effect on soothing hearts and relieving sadness and depression. Narrated ‘Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) that whenever one of her relatives passed away, the women assembled and then dispersed (returned to their houses) except her relatives and close friends. She would order that a pot of Talbeenah be cooked. Then Tharid (a dish prepared from meat and bread) would be prepared and the Talbeenah would be poured on it. `Aisha would say (to the women),”Eat of it, for I heard Allah’s Messenger (?) saying, “The Talbeenah soothes the heart of the patient and relieves him from some of his sadness/grief.’ “ Talbeenah, an anti depressant has the potential to reduce depression and enhance mood among the subjects. Ingestion of functional foods such as Talbeenah, an anti depressant may provide a mental health benefit to elderly people. Talbeenah, an anti depressant is the perfect combination of healthy food and medicinal cures. Consuming it not only helps physiologically, but also psychologically. On many instances, Holy Prophet S.A.W has mentioned the use of talbeenah as source of internal healing especially from grief and sorrow. It is made from ingredients that are highly beneficial for relaxing the brain and heart so it can recover from emotional trauma such as the death of a close one. How to prepare talbeenah: • Whole barley flour --- half cup • Whole milk --- 2 cups • Honey --- 2 tbsp or to taste • Dry fruits for garnishing

Steps:

  • Dissolve the barley flour in two cups of milk. Make sure no lumps formed during dissolving. Once you have dissolved the mixture, add it into a skillet and bring it to a boil. Continue stirring so that no lumps will form in the porridge. Bring it to two or three boils and remove from heat. Let it cool a bit. Add honey and garnish with dry fruits before serving. Talbeenah, an anti depressant is super easy to make.

1 cup of milk & 1 cup water
1 & ½ tablespoons of crushed barley, (coarse barley flour)

Steps:

  • 1. Put the water in a pot on med heat and add in the barley flour. 2. Cook for about 15 minutes. Constantly stir to avoid lumpiness. 3. The mixture will thicken a bit. 4. Add in milk and dates and cook for 5 minutes. 4. Sweeten with honey and serve. 5. Make intention of acting upon a Sunnat. If you wish you may add badaam pista ect - cook the barley for longer
