After reading about the Kingsford competition briquettes, I probably won't use them because they don't produce a lot less ash than the regular kingsford blue.

For a +15 hour smoke, I find that I have to add much more charcoal to maintain a consistent cooking-level temp and the temp drops very rapidly with briquettes (Kingsford Blue). Tuesday's pork butt session was about 16 hours and took about 2/3 of a bag of briquettes. Thanks for sharing your experience, especially as it's different from mine.
