Crispy Sticky Oven Hot Wings | Just A Pinch Recipes image

These are classic Buffalo wings you'd get in a wing joint. They're super crispy and simple to make. Coated in traditional butter and Buffalo sauce with fantastic seasoning, dunk them in your favorite dressing to mellow the heat a bit. Perfect for any occasion, but trust us when we say you won't be able to stop eating them until they're gone.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 pound(s) uncooked chicken wing sections
1/4 cup(s) olive oil
1 stick(s) butter
3/4 cup(s) Louisiana hot sauce
1 tablespoon(s) white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon(s) onion powder
1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) sea salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) lemon pepper
1/2 teaspoon(s) thyme
1/2 teaspoon(s) paprika
- blue cheese or ranch dressing, for dipping

Steps:

  • Rinse the wings and dry them off individually with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels completely. (This is the trick to making the wings really good!)
  • In a big bowl, toss the wings with about a quarter cup of olive oil so the wings are completely covered.
  • Add all the seasonings to the wings and toss until completely covered.
  • Lay the wings flat on a sprayed cookie sheet.
  • Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes. After about 30 minutes and the wings look cooked, but not crispy. Turn the oven on broil and cook each side until nice and crispy. Watch the wings closely so they don't burn.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the stick of butter and whisk in enough hot sauce to your liking. Add the vinegar and whisk. Add some salt and pepper if needed. Adjust to your taste.
  • Put the wings back in a big, clean bowl and pour the sauce over them; toss. Put some extra sauce on the side.
  • Dip in your favorite dressing like blue cheese or ranch.

Tired of the same old red pepper and butter 'hot sauce' on your wings? Try this on your next batch for a change of pace. We're crispy wing lovers, so we always make them fried. It might work for baked wings as well, but that hasn't been tested...yet. Make your fried wings according to your favorite recipe, coat the wings in this sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds just prior to serving. You should be able to coat about a dozen wing pieces with the recipe. Your wings are going to be sticky but the wing lovers I hang with claim they're well worth the mess.

¼ cup bourbon whiskey
¼ cup packed brown sugar
⅓ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot ®)
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Stir the bourbon, brown sugar, ketchup, white vinegar, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, honey, and butter together in a saucepan over medium heat; cook, whisking occasionally, until the mixture begins to bubble. Reduce heat to low and cook at a gentle simmer, whisking occasionally, until the sauce thickens nearly to the consistency of maple syrup or molasses, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
