LEARN HOW TO MAKE CAPPUCCINO - COFFEE PREPARATION - ILLY

Learn How to Make Cappuccino - Coffee Preparation - illy image

great cappuccino is a delight available to discerning coffee lovers, right in their own kitchens. It takes some practice with water, steam and foam, along with the right equipment on your countertop. You’ll want an espresso machine with a built-in steaming wand. And of course, illy coffee on hand as your foundation.

Provided by illy Caffè

Total Time 3 minutes

Prep Time 1 minutes

Cook Time 2 minutes

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 2

Espresso coffee (25ml)
fresh milk (85 ml)

Steps:

  • Pour cold milk into a metal steaming pitcher, about a third full
  • Release steam from the steaming wand for two seconds to eliminate any residual water
  • Dip the tip of the steaming wand into milk and start frothing. As the foam rises and the volume of milk increases, lower the pitcher, always keeping the tip submerged and tilted to create a vortex. Do not mix unnecessarily (i.e. let the natural circulating action do the work)
  • Continue steaming until the milk reaches 65 degrees (check via probe-style kitchen thermometer) and its volume doubles
  • Tap the base of the pitcher firmly on the countertop to compress the foam
  • Prepare an espresso in a large cup (ideally, a cappuccino cup)
  • Pour the foamed milk directly into the cup, first aiming for the center, then continuing in a circular motion out toward the rim
  • Operate the steam one more time to eliminate any remaining milk residue

CAPPUCCINO RECIPE | BBC GOOD FOOD

Cappuccino recipe | BBC Good Food image

Make your favourite morning coffee from scratch – it's easy with the right equipment. We love a creamy cappuccino topped with a sprinkling of cocoa powder

Provided by Kane Statton

Categories     Drink

Total Time 3 minutes

Prep Time 3 minutes

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 4

18g ground espresso (or 1 espresso pod)
150ml milk
cocoa powder (optional)
the right cup , 200-250ml capacity

Steps:

  • Make around 35ml espresso using a coffee machine and pour it into the base of your cup.
  • Steam the milk with the steamer attachment so that it has around 4-6cm of foam on top. Hold the jug so that the spout is about 3-4cm above the cup and pour the milk in steadily. As the volume within the cup increases, bring the jug as close to the surface of the drink as possible whilst aiming to pour into the centre. Once the milk jug is almost touching the surface of the coffee, tilt the jug to speed up the rate of pour. As you accelerate, the milk will hit the back of the cup and start naturally folding in on itself to create a pattern on the top. Dust the surface with a little cocoa powder if you like.
