Steamer Basket Broccoli - My Menu Pal image

Steaming broccoli is one of the easiest way to prepare this nutrition-packed vegetable. It can be seasoned any number of ways to appeal to your family's taste buds.

Number Of Ingredients 1

2 heads broccoli

Steps:

  • Put a steamer basket in a large pot. Fill with water to just below the steamer basket. Bring to a boil.
  • Cut florets off the heads of the broccoli. Cut the stalks into bite sized pieces. For any really thick pieces of stalk, shave off some of the outside and then cut into bite sized pieces. Put the broccoli into the steamer basket and cover with a lid.
  • Steam broccoli for about 5 minutes or until desired degree of tenderness. Drain water and put broccoli into the pot. Season according to your family’s tastes. Ann’s family prefers a little bit of Smart Balance spread, a few drops of lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder and Italian seasoning.
