How To Make Slime: 4 Best Slime Recipes | Science Projects image

This version of slime (or Gak) is made of glue and Borax.

School glue
Sodium tetraborate
Food coloring (optional)
Water
Two bowls

Steps:

  • In one bowl mix 1 oz. glue (about 1/4 of the glue bottle) and 1/4 cup water. If you want colored slime, add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens.
  • Add 1/4 cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly. The slime will begin to form immediately. Lift some of the solution with the stir stick and observe how the consistency has changed from Step 1.
  • Stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. This is a messy experience but is necessary because it allows the two compounds to bond completely. Don't worry about any leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out.
  • When not in use, store the slime in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep it from growing mold.

2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • After removing cooked meat from skillet or pan, add oil to drippings in skillet. Stir in flour, scraping up brown particles. Cook over medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture is light golden brown.
  • Stir in milk. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is boiling and thickened. If gravy is too thick, stir in more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency. Stir in salt and pepper.

There are so many strange concoctions out there for Beau Monde Seasoning that I was just baffled when I needed it and couldn't buy it (or make it from those weird recipes). After some research - this is the recipe I came up with. It *IS* the closest recipe to Beau Monde Seasoning I can find anywhere on the net (primarily because there IS no close recipe anywhere on the net)?!?!? This is so simple I don't know why everyone is getting it wrong. Beau Monde Seasoning contains: Salt, dextrose, onion, celery seed, and silicon dioxide. Salt is self explanatory - dextrose is the The dextrorotatory form of glucose which is derived from starch. (Effectively, it's a type of sugar..slightly heavier than meat which can be absorbed in to the meat tissue. Onion and celery seed are the primary flavors we are trying to accomplish here... the silicon dioxide is used as a flow agent and/or moisture absorbent...so toss a few grains of rice in your bottle! For the Dextrose (unless you wish to purchase powdered dextrose, which is available in some health food/sports stores) we will use either powdered sugar or caster sugar. The amount I'll list is simply to my taste -- certainly feel free to start with less and adjust it to suit your own tastes. We'll use Onion powder and Celery salt to accomplish 3 of the 4 major ingredients.
