I came up with this delicious BBQ sandwich on my own. Out of all my barbecue recipes, this one's my husband's favorite. It's also a big hit with family and friends who enjoy it at our Fourth of July picnic.—Sue Gronholz, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin

Number Of Ingredients 10

4-1/2 pounds ground beef
1-1/2 cups chopped onions
2-1/4 cups ketchup
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
18 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onions until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Heat through. Serve on buns.

The barbecue sauce is the winning touch on this oven barbecue chicken.

1 x 2.2-pound (1 kg) whole chicken
1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
½ cup (120 ml) mustard
1 cup (240 ml) brown sugar
½ cup (120 ml) white vinegar
1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
1 teaspoon (5 ml) pepper
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
1 teaspoon (5 ml) crushed red pepper
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) smoked paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F (205 C).
  • To a small bowl, add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, white vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt, crushed red pepper, and smoked paprika and stir to combine. Pour half of the BBQ sauce into a serving dish and set aside.
  • Cut chicken into 10 pieces: 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 legs, and the 2 breasts, both cut in half. Toss chicken pieces with remaining BBQ sauce and place on a parchment paper-covered baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove chicken when skin is crispy and sticky, and the flesh is cooked through. Serve alongside extra BBQ Sauce.
