1 lb round steak
1/4 cup flour
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 onion, sliced
1 green pepper, cut in strips
1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Cut steak in serving pieces.
  • Roll in flour.
  • Heat oil; salt and pepper steaks; and brown on each side.
  • Place in baking dish.
  • Add onion to oil, saute until soft.
  • Add pepper, mushrooms, tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce and lemon juice.
  • Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  • Pour over steaks in baking dish.
  • Bake, covered at 350* for 1/1/2 hour.

1 (5-pound) sirloin steak
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ cup catsup
½ cup chili sauce
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 medium onion, peeled and sliced
1 medium-size green pepper, seeded and sliced into rings
1 lemon, sliced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup hot water

Steps:

  • Sprinkle steak with salt and pepper. Place in a greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish. Insert meat thermometer, if desired.
  • Combine catsup, chili sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; pour over steak. Place onion, green pepper, and lemon slices on top of steak. Dot with butter. Pour water around steak.
  • Bake at 400° for 1 hour or until meat thermometer registers 140° (rare). Discard lemon slices.

  • Two pounds top round steak cut about two inches thick, leave on the fat . Brown in hot frying-pan, then add three-fourths cup boiling water, cover and bake forty-five minutes in moderate oven. Sprinkle with salt and pepper; cover with layer of sliced seasoned onions. Bake another hour. Then cover with layer of solid meat of a can of tomatoes. Bake again fifteen minutes. Sprinkle over top two tablespoons grated cheese; place in oven long enough for cheese to melt. There will be a delicious thick gravey and the steak will be very tender. Recipe given by; Mrs. M. C.
