Sour Cream Pound Cake Recipe: How to Make It image

Because I'm our town's postmaster, I can bake only in my spare time. I especially like this sour cream pound cake recipe. It tastes amazing as is, or tuck it under ice cream and chocolate syrup like a hot fudge sundae! —Karen Conrad, East Troy, Wisconsin

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup butter, softened
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs, room temperature
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar, optional

Steps:

  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream and vanilla. Beat on low just until blended. Pour into a greased and floured 10-in. fluted tube pan. , Bake at 325° for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired.

This was such an easy throw-together meal last night. Reminded me of the meatless days of yore.

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 whole Corn Tortillas
Canola Oil, For Frying
1 can (20 Ounce) Enchilada Sauce
2 c. Sour Cream
3 c. Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated
1 c. Sliced/chopped Green Onions
1/2 tsp. Ground Cumin
1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together sour cream, green onions 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium heat. Heat enchilada sauce in a separate skillet or saucepan. Using tongs, fry tortillas one at a time, for only about five to ten seconds per side (don't allow to crisp.) Remove from oil, then dunk tortilla in enchilada sauce. Lay tortilla on a plate, then spoon a good two or three tablespoons of the sour cream mixture in the middle. Roll tortilla, then place face down in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Repeat with remaining tortillas and sour cream mixture. (If there's any sour cream mixture left over, use it as a dip for tortilla chips!)Cover the dish with the remaining cheese, then bake for 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly. Serve immediately. Place a dollop of sour cream on each serving, then sprinkle on sliced green onions.

EASY SOUR CREAM BAKED SALMON - INSPIRED TASTE

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown ground chuck in a large skillet. Drain fat, then add tomato sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt and plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Stir, then simmer while you prepare the other ingredients.  Cook egg noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.  In a medium bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese. Add plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Add to noodles and stir. Add green onions and stir.  To assemble, add half of the noodles to a baking dish. Top with half the meat mixture, then sprinkle on half the grated cheddar. Repeat with noodles, meat, then a final layer of cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, or until all cheese is melted.  Serve with crusty French bread.
