Smoked Whiskey Cocktail - Hy-Vee Recipes and Ideas image

How is this whiskey cocktail smoked? Light a few broken pieces of cinnamon sticks, ignite, and flip a cocktail glass over the cinnamon sticks. The sticks will create a smoky-sweet flavor that will bring out the whiskey.

Cook Time 45 minutes

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 7

0.5 c. of Hy-Vee granulated sugar
0.5 c. of water
3 sprig(s) of fresh rosemary
2 oz. of Finagren's Irish whiskey
1 tbsp. of fig spread
0.75 oz. of Rosemary Syrup
1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick

Steps:

  • 1.

    Make Rosemary Syrup: Simmer sugar and water in a smalls saucepan until sugar dissolves. Stir in chopped rosemary sprigs and immediately remove from heat; cool 30 minutes.

  • 2.

    Make Whiskey Cocktail: Place whiskey, fig spread or preserves, and 3/4-oz. Rosemary Syrup in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Cover; shake well.

  • 3.

    Break cinnamon stick into small pieces; stack in a pile on a fireproof surface. Using a blowtorch, ignite the cinnamon and immediately place a chilled glass upside down on top of cinnamon. When the smoke dissipates, turn the glass upright and strain the drink into the glass.
