2 tubes (13.8 ounces each) refrigerated pizza crust
1 pound ground beef
1 can (15-1/2 ounces) sloppy joe sauce
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Unroll pizza dough; place on two greased 12-in. pizza pans. Bake at 425° for 6-7 minutes or until golden brown. , In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add sloppy joe sauce. Spread over crusts. Sprinkle with cheeses. Bake at 425° for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 can (15.5 oz) sloppy joe sauce
Cornmeal, if desired
1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust or 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust
1/4 cup sliced green onions (4 medium)
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)

Steps:

  • In 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in sloppy joe sauce. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 5 minutes.
  • If using classic crust: Heat oven to 425°F. Sprinkle cornmeal on 14-inch pizza stone. Unroll dough on pizza stone. Starting at center, press out dough with hands into 14-inch round, forming 1/2-inch rim. If using thin crust: Heat oven to 400°F. Spray or grease 15x10-inch or larger dark or nonstick cookie sheet. Sprinkle cornmeal on cookie sheet. Unroll dough on cookie sheet. Starting at center, press dough into 15x10-inch rectangle.
  • Spoon hot beef mixture over dough. Top with onions and cheese.
  • Bake classic crust 18 to 23 minutes, bake thin crust 15 to 20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Cut into 8 servings.

Easy to double, triple, etc. I've been making Joes this way for over 20 years. ***03-08-09, I just reinvented this recipe tonight when I went to make it for dinner and found I didn't have an 8-oz. can of tomato sauce (shame on me). The family was upset with me when I subbed an 8-oz. can of pizza sauce and told them to suck it up and call them 'Pizza Joes' and then served them up with shredded mozzarella cheese on the toasted buns, top and bottom. They loved it. I left out the BBQ sauce in this preparation and just used a 1/2 cup ketchup. Pizza Joes are good to go!
