1 part sugar + 1 part water = simple syrup, AKA liquid gold. Flavor this easy syrup with anything you want for a quick coffee or cocktail sweetener anytime.

dried lavender flowers

packed fresh mint leaves

1 1/2 tsp.

rosewater

Peel of 2 lemons or limes

1/3 c.

thinly sliced fresh ginger

Steps:

  • Add sugar and water to a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil and let simmer until sugar is completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Optionally, add in flavoring and continue to simmer for 2 to 4 minutes more until fragrant. Remove from heat and let steep until syrup is completely cool, then strain. Pour cooled syrup into a clean jar or bottle and refrigerate up to 1 month.
