Total Time 40 minutes

Cook Time 40 minutes

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/4 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 pound sugar snap peas, trimmed
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 1/2 pounds small red potatoes, halved
3/4 cup buttermilk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
Finely grated zest of 1 lemon

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler. Toss the shrimp, snap peas, garlic, thyme and olive oil in a large bowl; set aside.
  • Put the potatoes in a pot and cover with water by 1 inch; bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until fork-tender, about 10 minutes. Reserve 1/4 cup cooking water, then drain the potatoes and return to the pot. Add the buttermilk, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper. Mash, gradually adding the reserved cooking water as needed. Stir in 1 tablespoon chives.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, spread the shrimp and snap peas on a baking sheet. Broil until just cooked through and charred in spots, 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Dot the shrimp and snap peas with the remaining 2 tablespoons butter and sprinkle with the lemon zest. Toss until the butter melts and the mixture is well coated; season with salt and pepper. Divide the potatoes, shrimp, snap peas and any juices from the baking sheet among plates. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 tablespoon chives.

CHEESY SHRIMP AND GRITS RECIPE | MYRECIPES
This quick and easy shrimp and grits recipe will wow your family as a weeknight meal or impress guests at a dinner party. The vein of the shrimp runs along the back of the shrimp, just below the surface, and is actually the digestive tract. It won't cause you harm to eat, but can taste gritty (and you definitely don't want that), so it's best to remove it. To see how to do so, click here.

CAJUN SHRIMP BOIL RECIPE - NYT COOKING
In New Orleans, a seafood boil, the Southern tradition of gathering around a newspaper-lined table to eat large amounts of boiled shellfish with your bare hands, is all about salt and spice. In the words of Jared Austin, a Mississippi riverboat pilot and seafood-boil master, ‘‘Nothing about any of this is subtle — people standing around the pot should sneeze and cough.’’ The key to a successful shrimp boil is layering ingredients into the pot so that everything is done cooking at once: First add the potatoes and sausage, then the shrimp, then the frozen corn to bring the temperature down and prevent overcooking. Let it all soak to absorb the salt and spice, then dump it out onto the table and eat with copious amounts of rémoulade. While this recipe can easily be halved, it’s a simple — and extraordinarily fun — way to feed a crowd. Just remember to heed Austin’s advice: ‘‘Don’t be afraid of cayenne. Don’t be afraid to let your nose run.’’

  • Add potatoes and sausage to the pot, and let the water return to a boil. Turn off heat, and allow to soak for 10 minutes or until potatoes are barely tender when pierced with a knife. Bring the water to a boil, and add shrimp. Cook for 3 minutes, then turn off heat, add corn and allow to soak for 7 minutes. Drain, and serve immediately with rémoulade (preferably on a newspaper-lined table).

CRISPY SHRIMP TEMPURA RECIPE | ALLRECIPES
I had 2 pounds of shrimp to cook so I doubled the recipe exactly. I used my deep fryer and kept the temperature at 375. When the shrimp came out they were delicious and crispy for a minute or two then they began to get soggy. I had to do several batches so most of my shrimp were doomed to sogginess. I solved the problem by quickly dipping the battered shrimp in Panko bread crumbs before frying ...

THEE BEST GRILLED SHRIMP | THE RECIPE CRITIC
2020-06-21 · Grilled Shrimp Recipe. Grilling shrimp is a great way to cook this very popular seafood. The grill gives them a fantastic smoky flavor and adds to the perfect tangy spices of the marinade. Due to the size of the shrimp, you will need to put them on skewers so they won’t fall through the grate. I prefer jumbo shrimp for size but this will also work well with smaller size of shrimp.
