Steps:
- Mix the flours, salt, yeast, sunflower, caraway, and poppy seeds in a large bowl. Add the black treacle and water, then mix well. If the dough seems a little stiff, add 1 tbsp or more extra water. Mix well, then put on a lightly floured work surface and gently knead the dough for 7 mins. Put it back into a lightly oiled bowl for approx 2 hours until doubled in size.
- Line a tray with baking parchment. Tip the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knock back, then gently mould the dough into a ball. Roll the dough in the sesame seeds and place on the baking tray to prove for a further hour until doubled in size.
- Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Cut the top into criss-cross slashes with a sharp knife and bake for 30 mins until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Cool on a wire rack.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan; set aside.
- In a large bowl stir together the flours, brown sugar, 1/2 cup sunflower kernels, ground flax seed, the 2 tablespoons sesame seed, the 2 tablespoons poppy seed, the baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; set aside. In a medium bowl beat egg with a fork; stir in buttermilk and oil. Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy). Spread batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with the 4 teaspoons seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Wrap and store bread overnight before slicing. Makes 1 loaf (14 servings).
