Quick Italian Sausage Sandwiches Recipe: How to Make It image

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 Italian sausage links (4 ounces each)
1/4 cup water
1 small green pepper, cut into strips
1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup spaghetti sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
2 brat buns, split and toasted
2 tablespoons shredded Italian cheese blend

Steps:

  • Place sausages and water in a large skillet; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Uncover; cook 5-10 minutes longer or until meat is no longer pink; drain. Remove sausages and keep warm., In the same skillet, saute pepper and onion in oil until tender. Return sausages to pan. Stir in spaghetti sauce and basil; heat through. Serve sausages on buns with sauce and cheese.

cumberland sausages
olive oil
onions, thinly sliced
light muscovado sugar
sherry vinegar
tomato and chilli chutney
multiseed wholemeal farmhouse batch loaf
vine tomatoes, washed and sliced
wild rocket, washed

Steps:

  • Place the sausages on a greased baking tray and cook according to the instructions on the packet, turning once or twice during cooking. Slice in half lengthways when cooked.

    Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the onions and cook gently for 20 minutes until soft and brown. Add the sugar and vinegar and cook for another 5 minutes.

    Spread the chutney on 4 slices of bread. Place the sliced sausages on top, then cover with the onions, tomato and rocket. Top with the remaining slices of bread and serve immediately.
