- Stud the apple with the cloves. In a medium pot, combine the studded apple and remaining ingredients except the rum. Slowly bring to a simmer over low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the rum. Discard the apple. Ladle into mugs and garnish each with a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve in mugs with apple slices and orange twists for garnish. Add a splash of rum for an adults-only version! Yum, yum, yum.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors. Discard spice bag. Strain cider mixture and, if desired, stir in brandy. Serve immediately.
