My Crab Cakes - Allrecipes image

Great crab cakes with lots of flavor and spice. Serve with homemade aioli and a crisp white wine!

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 tablespoons olive oil
6 green onions, chopped
⅜ cup olive oil
1 (16 ounce) can canned crabmeat, drained
1 egg
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dry mustard
8 ounces buttery round crackers, crushed
½ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs) or regular dry bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet over high heat. Saute green onions briefly until tender; cool slightly.
  • Combine crabmeat, sauteed green onions, egg, mayonnaise, dry mustard, crushed crackers, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt and pepper. Form into 1/2 inch thick patties. Coat the patties with bread crumbs.
  • Heat 1/2 cup oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Cook cakes until golden brown on each side. Drain briefly on paper towels and serve hot.

This foolproof crab cakes recipe is easy enough for a beginner. These delicious crab cakes cook perfectly golden-brown and don't fall apart! You can taste delicious crab meat in every bite!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb lump crab meat (preferably fresh, but you can use canned drained crab meat)
1 egg
1/4 cup mayo
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
5 green onion stalks
1/2 cup Ritz or saltine crackers (crushed (approximately 15 Ritz crackers))
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp oil

Steps:

  • Use the food processor fitted with a steel blade to crush the Ritz crackers and turn them into crumbs.
  • Mince the green onions in a food processor.
  • In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, crushed crackers, flour, minced green onion, egg, mayo, lemon juice, salt and pepper, and mix with your hands until combined.
  • Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  • Shape the crab mixture into patties, put the patties on a frying pan (make sure they are not touching) and cook on one side for 4 minutes.
  • Carefully flip the crab cakes with a spatula, and cook for another 4 minutes (or until golden-brown on both sides).

For the spicy remoulade: In a small bowl, whisk to combine the mayonnaise, hot sauce, parsley, capers, garlic, paprika, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use. Place an oven rack 8 inches from the broiler element. Heat the broiler over high heat. Brush the tops of the crab cakes with melted butter. Broil until golden on top and heated through, 4 to 5 minutes.  Serve immediately with lemon wedges and spicy remoulade.

My husband, a lobster fisherman and scallop diver, came up with this some years ago. It's now a big favorite of ours, and we're glad to share with you. This stuffing can also be used to stuff clams, on top of crab cakes or on a pork chop -- it's all wicked good! We serve ours with a White Cream Sauce on top of the stuffing." This would be great to put over fish and baked too! I'm thinking flounder, filet of sole, and any other white fish. Times are only approximate. You can also substitute with lobster. You can make this in a 9x9" baking dish as well, and serve it with the White Cream Sauce on top. Cooking time does not include time cooked inside the bird.
