1 c. Flour, (heaping)
4 Tbsp. Powdered sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 c. Margarine, (1 stick)
4 c. Rhubarb, diced
3 x Egg yolks
1 1/4 c. Sugar
2 Tbsp. Flour
3/4 c. Half and half
3 x Egg whites
1/2 c. Sugar

Steps:

  • Plus 1 Tbsp. flour and 1 Tbsp. sugar. FILLING Mix crust ingredients together and pat into 11 x 7 inch pan. Sprinkle the 1 Tbsp. sugar and 1 Tbsp. flour over crust before adding filling. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 min then bake at 350 degrees for 25 min. May be topped with meringue. I prefer it without meringue. Meringue: Beat egg whites till stiff. Add in sugar slow. Put on kuchen when almost done. Bake a short time.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter
1 egg, beaten with
2 tablespoons milk
1 (85 g) strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
5 cups sliced rhubarb
1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/3 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons margarine or 3 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 375.
  • THE BASE: Cut margarine or butter into dry ingredients until it looks like coarse crumbs. Add egg & milk mixture; stir till moist. Pat evenly on bottom and 1" up the sides of 9x9" pan.
  • THE MIDDLE PART: Mix all the ingredients together and turn into crust lined pan.
  • TOPPING: Cut together and sprinkle evenly over the rhubarb.
  • Bake for 45 minutes; cool and serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

MOM'S RHUBARB CUSTARD TORTE RECIPE | ALLRECIPES
My mother made this often while I was growing up. She's been gone for 13 years, but I still make this at least once a year to rave reviews. No one has ever had anything like this but anyone who likes rhubarb loves it. It makes a lot, but when my husband takes this to work, I only get the empty pan back! Prep time is based on having to cut your rhubarb. If already cut, reduce to 30 minutes.
