- Place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring water to a boil. Add broccoli florets and carrots, cover, and steam until tender, about 5 minutes.

- Break broccoli into florets.Discard large stems.Trim stems;cut stems into slices.
- Place 2 to 3 inch of water and steamer basket in large saucepan;bring water to boil.
- Add broccoli and carrots ;cover.steam about 8 to 10 min or until vegetables are crisp-tender.Place vegetables in serving bowl.Add butter;toss lightly to coat.Season to taste with salt and pepper.
