HASH BROWN AND EGG CASSEROLE RECIPE | ALLRECIPES

Hash Brown and Egg Casserole Recipe | Allrecipes image

This is my family's recipe that has been handed down through the years. We've always used the maple-flavored pork sausage but any kind is good. This casserole is a nice and cozy breakfast or brunch meal that everyone will enjoy. It's got the perfect taste with lots of cheese. Yum! Be sure to use a baking dish that is deep enough to cover with aluminum foil.

Total Time 1 hours 40 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 1 hours 20 minutes

Yield 1 - 8x8 inch casserole

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (2 pound) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 pound pork sausage
1 small onion, diced
5 eggs
½ cup milk
½ teaspoon onion powder
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste
12 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart baking dish. Place the hash brown potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook and stir the sausage and onion until the sausage is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink; drain. Meanwhile, whisk together the eggs, milk, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and pour over the potatoes. Layer with half the Cheddar cheese, the sausage mixture, and the remaining Cheddar cheese. Cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove cover; return casserole to the oven and bake until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 10 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Best Biscuit-Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole Recipe ... image

This recipe came about when I had all the ingredients for a great breakfast but didn't want to cook everything separately. Threw it into a casserole dish and voila! This is by far the best breakfast casserole I've ever had. It's wonderful when having "breakfast for dinner!"

Total Time 1 hours 5 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 40 minutes

Yield 1 9x13 casserole

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 teaspoon butter, or as needed
1 (16 ounce) package bacon
1 (16 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
8 frozen hash brown patties, or to taste
8 eggs
¾ cup milk
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until crispy but not fully browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels.
  • Slice biscuits lengthwise and place on the bottom of the baking dish, sealing the dough to cover the bottom completely. Top with hash brown patties. Layer bacon over the hash browns.
  • Whisk eggs and milk together, then pour over the casserole. Top with Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until top is bubbling and bacon is crispy, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

CRACKER BARREL HASH BROWN CASSEROLE RECIPE | TOP SECRET ...
Menu Description: "Made from scratch in our kitchens using fresh Grade A Fancy Russet potatoes, fresh chopped onion, natural Colby cheese and spices. Baked fresh all day long." In the late sixties Dan Evins was a Shell Oil "jobber" looking for a new way to market gasoline. He wanted to create a special place that would arouse curiosity, and would pull travelers off the highways. In 1969 he opened the first Cracker Barrel just off Interstate 40 in Lebanon, Tennessee, offering gas, country-style food, and a selection of antiques for sale. Today there are over 529 stores in 41 states, with each restaurant still designed as a country rest stop and gift store. In fact, those stores which carry an average of 4,500 different items apiece have made Cracker Barrel the largest retailer of American-made finished crafts in the United States. Those who know Cracker Barrel love the restaurant for its delicious home-style breakfasts. This casserole, made with hash brown-sliced potatoes, Colby cheese, milk, beef broth, and spices is served with many of the classic breakfast dishes at the restaurant. The recipe here is designed for a skillet that is also safe to put in the oven (so no plastic handles). If you don't have one of those, you can easily transfer the casserole to a baking dish after it is done cooking on the stove. Love Cracker Barrel? Check out my other clone recipes here. HASH BROWN CASSEROLE WITH BACON, ONIONS, & CHEESE RECIPE
Though filling enough as a main dish, you can also serve smaller portions of this creamy, cheesy casserole as a tasty side to scrambled eggs. We enjoyed the way the Classic Melts cheese blend melted over the casserole; substitute cheddar cheese if you can't find this product.
